At first our simple priority (in comparison with the other hoses already out there) was to find a hose that went in to a push-fit connector and wouldn’t stretch, so that a customer’s Aqua-dapter would work properly.
Even though we weren’t entirely happy with our original yellow hose we knew that, as well as being low-stretch, PU hose has other advantages over the standard PVC hose that many people use.
We sent out hose with every Aqua-dapter and apart from excellent feedback for the Aqua-dapter itself, we started getting some rave reviews about the hose (but also a few who didn’t like it).
This majority of comments about the yellow hose being positive made us think that not everyone could have found their perfect pole hose yet, and while making improvements to our hose we thought perhaps we could offer something better than a lot of the hose already out there.
So, we worked on new hose that had less stretch, didn’t coil back on itself as much, and had a less ‘tacky’ surface. It was translucent pink red. Although it looked red when coiled, when in use with the light shining on it admittedly it did have a pinkish hue
We had a few complaints that because of the colour it just wasn’t ‘manly’ enough! ![]()
It was definitely better to use though. We made some more hose to the same specification in (far more popular) solid orange and asked for more feedback from customers.
More good reviews, but a few people thought that the orange hose wasn’t as good as the pink red, and we still had some comments about tangling, so we carried on trying to make it better…
We wanted:
- reduced coil memory, so that the hose lays flat better while in use
- reduce tangling with a smoother surface finish
- maintain low stretch (very important when pulling on the hose to operate the Aqua-dapter possibly hundreds of times per day)
- increased burst resistance at higher temperatures
- stay consistent in hot and cold weather
For the past couple of months we’ve had new (solid red colour) hose on test with some customers, most who use it with an Aqua-dapter, and a few who don’t. The results were very good:
- A super step forward in pole hose
- With hot water – would definitely go for the red
- Better hose than the old red hose
- I’m very impressed with the hose
- I like the new hose – it’s the best by far
- best pole hose out there imo
- for hot it is perfect
- no other pole hose comes close
The feedback showed that the new improved hose is suitable for cold and hot wfp systems, but is particularly good when used with hot water.
All hoses are now stored in larger coils to further reduce coiling when in use.
We’re hoping to get new photos done soon, but the hose is available now in 4 lengths (or choose per metre):
With the release of this new improved hose, we’ve reduced the price of the orange hose. See all our hose and fittings here: http://www.aqua-dapter.co.uk/hose-fittings/
It seems that Window Cleaners requirements for hose vary greatly, some like the hose to be very soft, some prefer a more rigid hose; some find any coil memory frustrating, while others find this make it much easier to pack away. With all of these differences of opinion and preference we realize it may be impossible to find a hose that will suit everyone, but we hope this hose will be even more popular than our previous ‘versions’.
